About
About Dokomind: a basket, a mind, and a path between
Look at the logo. A brain in two halves, warm and cool, with a path running through it. One half takes things in, the other keeps them, and the path is how the right thing is found again. That is what memory is for.
The name
A doko is a hand-woven bamboo basket used across the hills of Nepal. It is carried on the back, with a strap across the forehead, and it moves firewood, grain, vegetables and sometimes people. What makes it work is not its size but what the carrier chooses to put in it.
Doko is also the Japanese word for "where". Put the two together with "mind" and you have the two jobs of an agent's memory: carry what matters, and know where each thing is.
What Dokomind is
Dokomind is a free playground, a cost calculator and a library of guides about memory for AI agents. It is written for the developer or product person whose agent works well in a demo and forgets every user by the next morning.
What it is not
Dokomind is not, today, a hosted product. There is no API to sign up for and nothing here stores your data. It is not affiliated with any model provider or database vendor, and the guides do not recommend one. They are general information, not legal or security advice.
What is coming
A hosted memory service, with one call to remember and one to recall, is in development. It is not built yet, and nothing on this site should be read as if it were.
Six beliefs behind every page
Pack for the journey
What goes in the prompt should be chosen for this question. The store can be big; the load must be small.
Forgetting is a feature
A memory that only grows becomes wrong and slow. Updating and deleting deserve as much design as storing.
People can see their memory
Whatever an agent keeps about a person, that person should be able to read, correct and remove.
One person, one basket
Memories never leak between users. Isolation is decided in the design, not patched in later.
No invented numbers
The calculator shows its formulas and the guides say when something is a rule of thumb. We do not quote benchmarks we did not run.
Free and open
No account and no email wall. The tools run in your browser and keep nothing.
Pack the doko. Ask it anything.
Nine memories, one question, no account. See which facts an agent would carry into its next answer.
